Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation says the federal government will soon dock some prominent businessmen and organisations for alleged offences relating to terrorism financing in the country.
Abubakar Malami, revealed this when he fielded questions from State House correspondents in Abuja on Friday.
He disclosed that extensive investigations have indicated that prominent individuals have been implicated in various alleged cases of terrorism financing across the country.
He noted that conviction of some Nigerians, sometimes back for alleged complicity in terrorism financing in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), gave rise to wider and far-reaching investigation in Nigeria.
The Minister also revealed that investigations which have reached an advanced stage, indicated that individuals and institutional bodies culpable of suspicion of terrorism financing have been proven to be in existence in respect of their transactions.
The Attorney – General hinted that the Federal Government is initiating processes of prosecuting those high-profile individuals that are found to be financing terrorism.
Malami, who did not disclose the names or number of those to be prosecuted for the charges, said more discoveries were being made as fresh facts were uncovered.
